UberStudent: The Linux distro for education
UberStudent 4.1 "Epicurus" is a customized linux distribution designed for secondary and post-secondary education and is built on top of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS(Long Term support). Dubbing itself "Linux for Learners", UberStudent describes itself as "a cohesive academic success curriculum integrated into an installable, easy-to-use, and full-featured learning platform" aimed at increasing overall student learning and academic computer literacy, and lifelong computer fluency. We could find all the typical softwares su as LibreOffice, Chromium, Firefox, Thunderbird, and all the usual utilities for file management, archiving, and other basic tasks. UberStudent also includes a wide range of software for education users. Featured shortcuts in the top panel are CherryTree for note taking, Freeplane for mind mapping, and Zotero for research reference management. Beyond that, the applications menu is full of software for learning and for fun.

UberStudent The Linux distro for education
In my opinion, Linux Mint is currently the most user-friendly distribution for new users.
That said, if Linux is required for your studies, can you ask your professor or teaching assistant for advice, which is the best distro for your academic program?
